  • Cloves per Bulb: 8-12 large and small cloves (40-50 cloves per lb)

Red Toch

Red Toch (Softneck, Artichoke)

  • Flavor: Mild, great for roasting
  • Cloves per Bulb: 12-20 large and small cloves (50-65 cloves per lb)
  • Good for warmer climates and making garlic braids

* * How much garlic do I need? * *

1lb of hardneck garlic will yield about 40-50 cloves to plant. 1lb of softneck garlic will yield about 50-65 cloves to plant (many of these cloves will be smaller).

We recommend planting your cloves 5-7 inches apart. 1lb of cloves would make a single row of approximately 20-25 feet, or a raised bed 6-7 feet long with 3 rows across. For more planting information see "The Growing Process" page on our website.
